Jung Won @ Eastwood

I never thought I would be frequenting Eastwood as much as I would like since my move to the beaches but I find myself coming here nearly every month (except lockdown).

And a place I got to finally try is hidden in corner of the the shopping mall. This place is always packed with local Korean foodies and there’s always a queue during dinner time. Luckily we found this place empty in the morning just before lunch which is clearly a sign for us to go and try!

The menu boasts a huge variety of Korean dishes but due to the cool weather, I was feeling a spicy soup. And I love noodles, especially kalguksu which is basically knife-cut noodles in soup. The last time I had these kind of noodles was in Korea so I was so excited to see it on the menu here.

It was spicy, savoury and the tenderness of the beef just slipped down my throat perfectly. I love the crunchiness of the bean sprouts as well as the other vegetables which makes me feel better about my nutrition.

My friend got the boneless short ribs soup and the broth is delectable. It is so flavoursome and warms up your stomach right down to the tee.

Despite the lack of side dishes, we both thoroughly enjoyed our meals here – even my friend who is not a huge fan of Korean cuisine! That is saying a lot.

I honestly want to come back here soon and bring more of my friends over to try out this place – no wonder why it’s so popular! Also, this was quite a huge serving and they have even bigger servings for just a few dollars extra. I’m glad I got the normal serving.
